Expungement

Expungement is a court-ordered process in which the legal record of the INDIVIDUAL is “sealed” or in essence, erased.

How long does expungement take?

The timing of the process varies by state and case. A general estimate of the time it takes to have a criminal record expunged can be anywhere from two to six months. Having your conviction expunged will show that you were rehabilitated, and, in some circumstances, may hinder the conviction’s availability to employers. We can help you file a petition to have the conviction dismissed.

What will expungement do for me?

Generally speaking when your expungement case is decided in your favor, the charges or “record” associated with you will in essence be “sealed” or erased in the eyes of the law. This will allow you to not have to disclose the history the expunged charges, such as applying for a job or apartment.

Are expunged charges gone for good?

The expunged charged won’t necessarily be completely gone. All charges that have been expunged will be closed off to the general public. Though certian government agencies and some law enfourcement can still view the convictions in a limited form.
